Dining Room and Silver Tinsel Tree

Here are a few more pictures of my Dining Room decked out for Christmas.

For my centerpiece, I started with a scrunched sequined scarf as a base layer.

Next I added this lovely sparkly mica snow covered topiary. This started life as a very tacky 1970s era pottery class project. I whitewashed it with white shoe polish--you know the kind in a bottle with a foam tip end. I let that dry, then brushed on some Elmer's glue all, and sprinkled liberally with mica snow, making sure to cover the whole thing. I let that dry overnight, then carefully brushed off any loose mica snow to save for a future project! It still sheds a little, so I might seal it....but I doubt it!

I also added some silver deer from Marshalls last year and some sleigh bells. The sleigh-bells are actually new, not vintage. They used to be a candy cane from a dollar store--I used Patina Green Antiquing solution from Michaels, then left them in the flowerbed for a winter! Almost instant patina! You can really see the beautiful table runner in the photograph--but in reality it is a scarf I picked up on clearance at either Marshall's or TJ Maxx in the juniors' department.

The above photos are of the silver tinsel tree in my Dining Room--all decorated with vintage ornaments! J'adore!
